Question by Plaid B: Where can I find do-it-yourself divorce forms for Georgia?
I need a copy of an uncontested divorce with no children for the state of Georgia. I have looked almost everywhere online and they all charge for them (even the sites that say they’re FREE!). I just need one to go by as far as how it is worded and the layout of it. Time is of utmost importance here. Can anyone help me? I tried to ask at the courthouse and was told to look online. Figures. Someone help me please!!

Best answer:

Answer by hookem_hornz
You’re probably going to have to spend at least a little money. If you absolutely refuse to do the smart thing and hire a lawyer to handle the drafting and filing, then at least go buy yourself a book about divorce in Georgia.

Here’s one… http://www.amazon.com/Divorce-Georgia-Legal-Survival-Guides/dp/1572484926/ref=sr_1_5/105-6099260-8006052?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1189629765&sr=8-5

I haven’t read it, but it’s gt to be better than taking your chances with some fly-by-night website.

Question by ♥Riyen’s Mom & Ayah due 4.12: Lawyer is asking me for a draft for filing divorce? What all should I write down?
A friend of mine is doing my divorce paperwork for me and he wanted me to draw up a draft so he can get it filed. Other than custody and assets, what should I include? We don’t own a house, I’m keeping my car and we have already separated the furniture, so if you can think of anything else that would be great!
Thank you, we’ve agreed on joint custody and no alimony.

Best answer:

Answer by Wild Cherry
What about child support? Alimony may be a possibility as well, but it may be slim to none. You need to enter all of that information you just provided, as well, into your divorce papers, because it will clear up any unnecessary haggling over things if you forgot to state that was yours before marriage or you’ve paid for it or its in your name. Its better to cover all of your bases than to lose out somehow in the end. Good Luck!! I will be going through this crap again very soon.

Even though we won’t need a lawyer (we have no children and no assets) I’m thinking there are some sort of filing fees? Husband is in FL, I am in AZ, do we need to be in the same state to be able to do it?
Please I need to know, if not specific then a ball park figure (but only for the states mentioned). Thanks!

Answer by broker472000
I live in central Florida..I went to the courthouse and filed my divorce..that was 12 years ago..I paid 25.00 for a huge package of papers..several had to be notorized..after all was done and I brought them back to the clerk of the courts..I paid 250.00,,I was given a court date..and it was done…I really don’t think you have to be in the same state if no assets or children involved..Good Luck…
